HAHAHA! AWESOME BG painting. I really dig the style of the characters and stuff too. The two styles combine to make a TOTALLY hilarious piece.
Man, I can't wait to see your shorts too. I loved the 60's style colors and vibe of Little Rikke. If your shorts are anything of that quality and standard, I'm TOTALLY in.
Just curious, any tricks that you used to really emulate that 60's film look specifically? Did you use some film for color reference? Any technique for emulating cels? Looks like you're a pretty great painter from this piece, but just curious about your approach. It's refreshing to see some real class and sophistication in colors, when the saturation dial of most cartoons is turned up full throttle.
Chrisallison - Glad you liked the Little Rikke stuff. We wanted the colours to be kind of earthy and warm, definately not too saturated, just give it more of a classic look. Our compositor, Stephane Coedel had a big hand in achieving the filmic look for both sequences, working his magic in After Effects. Also Sylvain Marc did some fantastic BGs for the title seq. Again he stayed in a very natural/earthy realm with the colours and textures, which seemed to work pretty well against the Flash animation, making it look a bit like classic traditional cel animation. As for the 'Zor' piece, that was all done on Photoshop. I was arsing around with this one to try and make it look as much like natural painting as possible. Really glad you like it!
Warwick - Zor is the big fella with the poo dripping from his front-bottom. It's a very effective defence mechanism he employs to render his target stunned, smelly and wanting to die.

As for Little Rikke, CN have passed on it for now as it doesn't fit into their current plans for the network. I think a girl main character may have gone against their current mandate of more boy orientated programming and action.
But the rights for the show will revert back to the creator, Rikke Asbjorn. So the show's not dead and will walk the hairy and slippery paths of the cartoon-pitch once more.
CN did pick up one of the shows we developed in the studio though, Ben Bocquelet's Gumball... http://www.awn.com/news/cartoons/turner-commissions-first-series-its-european-development-studio
So that particular dark cloud of poop at least had a somewhat golden and nutty lining.
This is fantastic. I've never seen anyone work on otter pelt and make it look so effortless, especially with crayon. Every time I work on otter pelt, the tooth always shows through. Good work.
