ANIMATION - MORE ROBOTBOY BGS

Trawling through the gloomy recesses of my computer's futuristic mind I stumbled upon some more BGs from Robotboy season one. Again I tip my hat to the great team of artists we had working with us.
All Robotboy images are copyright either Alphanim or Cartoon Network...

hey Chris i have a question i dont find how do you do to make this shadows looks like "crayola" or noise? is a texture layout over another with darken, soft ligth, or something like?

Hi Jean Carlos,

If I remember rightly a lot of these textures were produced using scanned in textures (often done using ink or acrilics and a paint brush) and applying them on a seperate layer at an opacity (oftening the layer to Multiply or which ever effect worked the best).

We also used brushes in Photoshop to add to the effect. The very talented Richard Depres was in charge of the BG painting team on the first season of Robotboy and they all did a great job.

Hope that helps.
